Family's service raises funds for adoption

SANDY , Utah (ABC4 Utah) - A Sandy family is one step closer to adopting 2 little boys from China, thanks to a team of hard working volunteers.

Up to 40 people volunteered today to raise money by doing fall cleanup shores in a sandy neighborhood. A place where a lot of widows and single women live.

They're trying to raise $30,000. That's how much Dan and Hannah Ballard have to pay to adopt two, two year old boys from China currently living in an orphanage.

And this team is working hard.

Hannah Ballard tells us, “We took out two trees, we're taking out a ton of wood and garbage and all sorts of things, from the back yard. We’re doing a lot of fall cleanup so lots of rakes, lots of mowing lots of throwing out garbage. We have about 4 trucks back and forth so far to the dump.”

They raised over $7,000 with Saturday’s event. If you would like to help you can visit the Ballard’s website at
