11-year-old Aurora baker debuts on Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship”

Provided by Nicole Tow Audra Tow, who was 10 during the filming of Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship,” has been baking practically her whole life. Audra Tow is on her way to starting a business next year. She complains about Los Angeles traffic like the best of them — “It took me like 40 minutes to drive three miles!” And the Aurora resident is about to make her national television debut. Not bad for an 11-year-old. Tow is a competitor on “Kids Baking Championship,” which debuts Jan. 2 on Food Network. “I was really excited to get the experience,” Tow said in a distinctively high-pitched voice. “There are so many things you can do in that kitchen because they have so much equipment.” Tow, who was 10 during the competition, said has been baking for practically her whole life. Her grandmother, Laura Smith, tried to pass on her love of baking to her daughter — Audra’s mother, Nicole Tow — but it was Audra who took to it. The two started baking together after receiving matching aprons for Christmas when Tow was 4 years old. Tow said she didn’t start “baking baking”...
