GRPS urging families to send kids to school despite 'Day Without Immigrants' protest

(Daytona Niles GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Grand Rapids Public Schools is urging its Hispanic and other immigrant families to send their children to school Thursday, Feb. 16, despite a national protest called a "Day Without Immigrants." The one-day protest in response to President Donald Trump's immigration policies such as "extreme vetting" and his plan to build a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. The protest calls for immigrants not to attend work or open their businesses, keep their kids home from school, and not spend money in local businesses and restaurants to flex their economic muscle.
