Kathie Lee & Hoda: Dogs — not siblings — are kids' best friends

We’re dog people. We get why kids might like their dogs better than their siblings, because, well, we like our dogs better than most people we know. It’s just the way it is. (A new University of Cambridge study found that kids are more attached to their pets than to siblings.) HK: Kids don’t want to be judged. They just want to feel loved, grownups too. And no one is better at making you feel loved than a dog. KLG: And siblings are in competition with each other. HK: It’s nice to have someone who always chooses you, who doesn’t steal your stuff and who isn’t tattling on you. KLG: Until they leave you to go to the next person with the snacks. I’m sorry, but everyone is always on the take! In other dog news, three new breeds — the sloughi, the American hairless terrier and the pumi — will be allowed to compete in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year. KLG: They are so cute! I really like the little fluffy one, the pumi. HK: Adorable. KLG: He looks part sheep. HK: It’s sort of unfair, one is clearly cuter than the others. KLG: Pumi wins, paws down. HK: By the way, why are there cats this year? Is it to drive the dogs crazy? KLG: Why don’t you throw in some beavers too? HK: She’s always got to throw a beaver in. She can’t help herself. Pervert.
