The 2016 Kids Fund campaign to raise money to be distributed to area nonprofits that help give young people a jump start on life comes to its official end Wednesday. Once again, readers of The Capital Times have come through to raise enough money, when coupled with the proceeds from the Kids Fund’s assets, to allow gifts and grants that will make a difference in hundreds of lives. The deadline for 2017 grant proposals is March 1 and nonprofits that address the challenges facing children in Dane County are welcome to apply. Final decisions on the grants will be made in April. Go to the Kids Fund website,, for complete directions about how to apply. Grants are made in three categories: developmental disabilities; youth support (middle and high schoolers); and child and family development (birth through elementary age). The website contains information about where to address applications. Although the fund drive is now over, donations are always welcome. They can be made to The Kids Fund, c/o The Capital Times, PO Box 8060, Madison, WI 53708 or via the website where contributions can be made with credit cards. Thanks to all for making The Kids Fund campaign a success.
