Handing down love—one recipe at a time

Trying new recipes is fun, but sometimes all that I want is a simple old recipe that has been in the family for years. Last week, I made two very old recipes that I haven’t cooked for years--my grandmother’s cabbage rolls and my old friend’s oven chow mein. The recipe cards have yellowed over time and in some places the ink has faded so that I’ve traced over the writing so I can read them. I get a little nostalgic when I see my grandmother’s handwriting and imagine her standing at her big white stove cooking with one hand in the front pocket of her yellow apron.
